Always learning from the master! 🙇‍♂️
\n
\n
What do you think made your solution so robust for new data?
\n
\n
Good question.
\nIt's hard to pinpoint what exactly helped but, after I reached my best public score, I spent the last 2 weeks trying to make it consistent over different submissions (changing the seed). Things I think had a good impact:
\n
\n
Having both F2P and P2P tests. I was quite strict on accepting the patch for submission, so this helped with precision
\n
Always making sure to have greedy sampling (or very low temp) at pretty much every step in the pipeline (along with other higher temps generations for diversity)
\n
Related to the above, I also varied the amount of context I provided for the model. For example, when generating the F2P tests I had 3 greedy samples - the first with full context (relevant imports + functions and classes), another with only imports and a third one with no context. I noticed that the optimal amount of context would vary a lot from sample to sample, so this layered approach helped quite a bit in making sure I had good F2P tests.
\n
Improving the overall runtime of the pipeline also allowed me to generated more samples at each step, which increased the odds that at least one generation was good
\n
\n
In the last week I also tried to have two LLMs (one in each GPU) running in parallel and ensemble the results, which I thought would be really good for both improving the score and robustness but, unfortunately, I couldn't make it work. All the reasoning LLMs I tried were super slow and wouldn't improve much on the Qwen Coder 32B generations.
"
