I guess the whole confusion arises from this conviction that one must be an advocate of a person in order to state that it is unjust to accuse others without any solid evidence. You yourself suggested \"another layer of authentication like passport or license\" below (and I upvoted your suggestion ). If you're so sure these people are guilty (you sound so and sorry if I'm wrong), why would you suggest it? Plus, the only strong evidence they present is similar (almost identical) usernames. Why would a person so high in LB make such a stupid mistake and use almost identical usernames? But, if your point is \"you aren't even good enough to participate in this competition, so I don't care about your opinion\", that's another story. Then, there would be nothing to discuss or debate. ✌️
",

Our compliance team reviews and tracks the cases reported here and acts on those with sufficient evidence appropriately at the close of each competition. ✌️
",

Only to point out that there are various reasons someone would cheat. Competing would bring that to light. For example, we are limited on daily submissions. Those are really precious for some people to test how they are doing with the CV vs the leaderboard. If you had multiple accounts you could get over that submission limit. I'm sure there are other various reasons but that is one of the ones that stuck out to me.
\n
I do believe that Kaggle should add another layer of authentication. You see this on websites where there are much smaller stakes who want to verify users with IDs, phone numbers, etc. Even just for MFA.
\n
I think, in the end, there are a lot of people who are incredibly passionate about Kaggle and they see injustice too. My final thought would be to put in 10-20 hours a week for two months on a competition and come back and read all of this and see if you might have a different view.
",

Looks like some participants are cheating. @lilingling1993 and @lilingling1992 with the same score are the first candidates for that.\n\nHowever, @noshakeplz and @guandongsheng888 from the 7th place with just 16 subs + @iuyyggghh from 8th place with 26 subs and no previous record on Kaggle seem suspicious as well, but can't say anything for sure.\n\n@juliaelliott, could you look into that?",

We do this in order to enable better tracking of offending accounts and avoid further abuse made possible by mid-stream removals.\n\nAlso, in the future, it’s recommended that you bring cases like this directly to kaggle.com/compliance rather than via public forum post. Our compliance team reviews and tracks the cases reported here and acts on those with sufficient evidence appropriately at the close of each competition. Centralizing reports this way helps ensure they do not have to chase down sporadic forum reports. We appreciate your participation and commitment to fair competitions!",
